# Traditional & classical tantra teachings and retreats

## What is traditional tantra?

Traditional tantra refers to the Hindu and Buddhist tantric traditions of India and the Himalaya, transmitted through texts, lineages and teachers over more than a thousand years. Their practices centre on meditation, mantra, visualisation, ritual and philosophical study, such as the non-dual teachings of Kashmir Shaivism. Sexuality plays a far smaller role than in modern Western neo-tantra.

## What to expect

Teachings often take the form of study sessions, meditation retreats or longer trainings, and may include initiation or a commitment to regular practice.
