# Tantric breathwork workshops and retreats

## What is tantric breathwork?

Breathwork is the deliberate use of breathing patterns to change how the body and mind feel. In tantra it ranges from calm, yogic pranayama to connected or circular breathing that builds and moves energy through the body. Sessions often bring up strong sensations or emotions, which is why they are guided step by step and end with a period of rest and integration.

## What to expect

A session usually starts with an explanation of the technique, followed by a guided breathing phase of 20 to 60 minutes, often with music, and time to rest and talk afterwards.

Intense breathwork is not suitable for everyone. People who are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, glaucoma or certain mental-health conditions should seek medical advice first, and a responsible facilitator will ask about this before the session.
